First total Lunar Eclipse of 2025: When, where to watch in Pakistan

Total Lunar Eclipse expected in September 2025

ISLAMABAD: The first total lunar eclipse of the year is set to occur tomorrow (Friday), as the moon enters the penumbra, or the outer part of Earth’s shadow.

During this period, the moon will appear slightly dimmer than its terrain, although it’s going to be pretty hard to notice.

According to the Meteorological Department, the eclipse is scheduled between 8:57 AM and 3:00 PM, whereby totality would occur at 11:26 AM and peak itself at 11:59 AM.

Unfortunately, the lunar eclipse would not be viewed in Pakistan; however, in various parts of the world, Europe, several of the Asian countries, most of Australia, Africa, and the Americas, lunar eclipses can be observed.

A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is exactly between the moon and the sun, causing the moon to pass through the Earth’s inner shadow, the umbra.
