LAHORE: Former Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Prisons Mirza Shahid Saleem Baig has been arrested by the intelligence agencies, sources confirmed on Friday.
According to the details, Shahid Saleem Baig who served as IG Jails for a term of five years was taken into custody on Wednesday night from his official residence IG House. Former IG Prisons Shahid Baig was appointed during the former PTI government and reiterated before PTI Founder Imran Khan’s arrest.
The investigation has also been started by former Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail Zafar. Apart from this, Nazim Ali Shah, an office superintendent from DIG Jail Rawalpindi office was also interrogated, sources said.
Additionally, several employees of Adiala Jail have also been arrested on the information provided by another former deputy superintendent, Muhammad Akram, who had served in Adiala Jail for 15 years at various intervals and was removed from his post in June.
Earlier. a former deputy superintendent and a jail assistant from Adiala Jail have been detained on charges of facilitating Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan during his imprisonment.
