ISLAMABAD: The Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi instructed authorities to delete from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) records all citizens who obtained Pakistani citizenship through unlawful means.
Minister Naqvi received a report about NADRA’s current work and plans from the NADRA Chairman during his visit to NADRA headquarters.
He praised NADRA for its achievements, which enabled the organization to provide public services. Minister Naqvi demonstrated that NADRA services have improved over the past two years because he requested state-of-the-art NADRA offices to be built on owned land instead of rented buildings, while requesting a master plan to achieve this goal.
He also assured full ministerial support and coordination with relevant institutions. The NADRA Chairman showed two projects that will improve citizen services through facial recognition technology used for biometric identification, which needs cooperation from other organizations.
The briefing showed that authorities canceled millions of CNICs belonging to deceased individuals while they established 30 days for solving identity card problems.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) assists in blocking mobile SIMs that were issued under the names of deceased individuals.
