KARACHI: The government has dropped another electric bomb on the people crushed by inflation, NEPRA has increased electricity prices for a month.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a notification regarding the increase in electricity prices.
According to the NEPRA notification, after the quarterly adjustment, electricity prices for consumers across the country, including Karachi, have been further increased by Rs. 1.63 per unit as a monthly fuel adjustment. The increase in the price of electricity per unit has been made as a part of the monthly fuel price adjustment for January.
The notification states that additional collection will be made from electricity consumers in March bills and this increase will be applicable to electricity consumers across the country, including K-Electric.
According to the NEPRA notification, the increase in electricity prices will not be applicable to lifeline consumers and electric vehicle charging stations.
It should be noted that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority had reserved its decision regarding the increase in electricity prices after the hearing on the January fuel price adjustment.
It should be remembered that NEPRA had also increased the price of electricity in the form of quarterly adjustment yesterday. The price of electricity was increased by 35 paise per unit in the form of quarterly adjustment.
