Govt introduces new digital passport, Immigration system

ISLAMABAD: The federal government will create an entirely new digital passport and immigration system because of former Chief Commissioner of Islamabad Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhawa’s appointment as Director General of Immigration and Passports.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered the new DG to implement complete reforms, which will change the passport and immigration departments into a complete digital operation system that requires no paper documents.

The initiative will create better operational performance while helping to decrease processing times and improve all forms of public service operations.

The reform plan officials developed will achieve three main goals, which include making application processes easier to understand while increasing service transparency and decreasing the time needed for passport and immigration services throughout the nation, which will base its operations on public needs.
