ISLAMABAD: The National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) has given citizens a facility to cancel the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) of deceased relatives using their PakID mobile application.
As per NADRA, if an individual is deceased, then their CNIC can be cancelled without any charges by their blood relatives, such as son, daughter, wife, husband, parents, sisters, or brothers.
Additionally, this can also be accomplished by a visit to any NADRA Registration Center or NRC.
A Cancellation Certificate is given by NADRA when an individual’s record of identity is cancelled because of death.
As indicated in law, an individual’s family member must initiate a request for this cancellation procedure within a period of 60 days of death.
Required Documents
- Computerized death certificate attested by the Union Council
- Municipal Committee, or Cantonment Board, death certificate
A citizen can apply for a Cancellation Certificate (CC) using the NADRA PakID App.
On being asked via social media, a query concerning situations where the deceased head of a household did not possess a PakID account, NADRA clarified that a request to cancel can be sent through the PakID account of the deceased’s daughters or sisters.
Additionally, NADRA clarified that any blood relative, including parents, siblings, spouse, and children, can apply for CNIC cancellation based on death using their own PakID login information.
