KARACHI: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has killed three militants in a shootout in the Mangophir area of Karachi on Monday, according to a media report.
The operation was carried out after intelligence-based information that said the members of the outlawed organisation, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) — Fitna Al-Khawarij, are hiding in a house in the neighbourhood.
The militants start firing at the police force amid the surrounding of their hideout in the area by the law enforcement agency.
CTD DSP Raja Umar Khattab confirmed that two of the terrorists have been identified as Zafran and Qudratullah.
“Zafran had a bounty of Rs20 million placed on his head by the government, while the third suspect has yet to be identified,” Khattab said.
According to the CTD, one of the killed terrorists was a suicide bomber. Officials suspect he was responsible for last year’s attack on Chinese nationals in Karachi.
Explosives, suicide vests, hand grenades, and a notebook detailing prospective targets were discovered on the property. Following the operation, the bomb disposal crew searched the premises.
DSP Khattab confirmed that all of the militants within the home had been killed, and that officials were now gathering information on the owner of the property where the TTP terror suspects had been sheltering for some time.
