ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned the DIG Operations Rawalpindi to present comprehensive details regarding the cases involving former first lady Bushra Bibi, as part of the ongoing investigation into the events of May 9.
Bushra Bibi faces multiple charges related to the May 9 incidents. During a court session led by IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq, Bushra Bibi’s lawyer, Latif Khosa, pointed out that investigations have not yet started in at least one of these cases, despite an arrest warrant being issued.
Justice Farooq expressed concern over the delays in the proceedings, noting that it has been two years since the May 9 events. He emphasized that once an individual is arrested in one case, they should be treated as arrested in all related cases, and it is not acceptable for someone granted bail or acquitted in one case to be re-arrested in another.
The Chief Justice also requested an update on the FIRs related to the May 9 incidents. Advocate Khosa informed the court that there are eleven FIRs, all dated May 9. The court’s directive to the DIG Operations Rawalpindi includes a thorough inquiry into the status of these cases.
