Imran Khan’s picture from Adiala Jail via live link goes viral

Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan Thursday appeared before the Supreme Court via video link in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendments case. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters are thrilled as they catch a glimpse of their incarcerated leader, Imran Khan, during the Supreme Court’s proceedings.

The 71-year-old former prime minister has been behind bars since his arrest in a graft case. A recent photo from Adiala Jail, which has been circulating widely on the internet, shows Khan sitting in a chair wearing a sky-blue outfit. This image marks the first public sighting of him since his detention in the high-security prison.

The government’s appeals against the NAB changes are being heard by the bench, which included Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa, Justices Aminuddin Khan, Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Athar Minallah, and Justice Azhar Hasan Rizvi.

The hearing in the case is being held on the intra-court appeals filed by the federal and provincial governments against the NAB amendments struck down by the Supreme Court.

Yesterday, on the orders of the Supreme Court, arrangements were completed at the Adiala Jail for the appearance of the PTI founder.

According to the sources, the PTI founder was informed about his presence via video link by the Adiala jail authorities. They said that before Khan’s appearance, the personnel of the SC and the jail administration tested the video link.

Khan, who is being held at Adiala jail, requested to make an in-person appearance before the highest court to make his case. The court then granted him permission to defend himself through a video link.

Following the SC’s directive, Khan and his attorneys Khawaja Haris and Intezar Panjutha had a brief meeting in jail one day ago.
