India expels another Pakistan High Commission official

India expels second Pakistan High Commission official as ‘persona non grata’

NEW DELHI: Just days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought global embarrassment to India’s nearly 1.5 billion people, New Delhi expelled another Pakistani diplomat from the High Commission, declaring him persona non grata for his involvement in activities “not befitting his official status.”

As New Delhi escalated its diplomatic offensive in an attempt to cover up the embarrassment it faced at the hands of Pakistan on May 10, the Modi government gave the Pakistani official 24 hours to leave.

Persona non grata, a Latin term meaning “persona non grata,” is the strongest diplomatic denunciation a host country can issue, typically requiring a foreign diplomat or official to leave its territory within days.

The Indian government has informed the Pakistani high commissioner in New Delhi about the activities of the official who has drawn Indian ire following India’s humiliating defeat in a war against Pakistan on Saturday.

According to sources, Pakistan is planning to give a strong response to India on this front as well, just like on the war front.
