ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police arrested a notorious gang on Thursday, involved in a robbery worth Rs30 million in the federal capital.
According to the police, the accused robbed Rs30 million from a cash van outside the Allied Bank branch in Shehzad Town in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The robbers opened fire indiscriminately killing security guard Suleiman on the spot, while Tariq, another guard, was critically injured and taken to the hospital.
According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Mustafa Tanveer, two vehicles, weapons, and Rs19.7 million have been recovered from the two arrested accused.
Efforts are on to arrest two more members of the group, police said. DIG Islamabad added that the gang has been involved in inter-provincial robbery cases. The main suspect is also involved in multiple robbery incidents in Karachi, he said.
