Islamabad: In an effort to promote a healthier environment for its residents, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced plans to build bicycle lanes alongside highways across various sectors and areas of Islamabad. This initiative, known as the CDA Bicycle Lab Project (BLP), aims to construct a 374 km long cycling track within 18 months, with an estimated cost of Rs2.4 billion.
The cycling track will be integrated into highways linked to the Purple Line Metro Bus project, including Khayaban Iqbal, Sector G-6, G-7, G-8, Green Double Lane, Jinnah Avenue, and Red Double Line. This will allow commuters using the metro bus system to utilize the cycling track for their convenience.
Additionally, the project aims to connect every sector of Islamabad with a cycling track. Furthermore, as part of the initiative, 150 parking stands will be set up to provide citizens with affordable bike rental services.
