Govt to provide free electric bikes to 120 federal board students

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to distribute electric motorcycles to the top 120 students of the Federal Board of Education.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the Minister for Industries and Production to discuss the electric vehicle policy. The participants of the meeting also reviewed the plan to install 40 charging stations for electric vehicles on motorways and national highways.

The minister also directed the concerned authorities to take steps to install charging stations at petrol pumps.

It was also decided that 39,000 electric bikes and 1,900 rickshaws would also be provided to individuals at a discount.

Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain said that the electric vehicle policy in the country would be announced soon as the government aims to reduce carbon emissions to combat air pollution.

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced the launch of four technical training programs to empower the youth in the province.

It should be remembered that the Punjab government has also launched a program to provide electric bikes to students on easy installments.
