ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s stadium has taken a major step forward after the Capital Development Authority (CDA) formally approved the project’s cast and confirmed Sector 12.
Construction is scheduled to kick off in January 2026, with the grey structure targeted for completion with six to eight months.
According to officials, the federal government has directed the CDA to deliver the entire project within a year as part of its broader plan to develop a world-class sports facility in the capital.
As per details, the new stadium will be designed on the lines of top international grounds in Dubai, aiming to position Islamabad as a prime destination for global cricket events and reduce the workload on existing venues across the country.
Furthermore, selected location on the outskirts of the city will help minimize traffic disruptions during major matches, especially on days when strict security protocols are in place for visiting international teams.
In addition, modern security systems, improved transport routes, and upgraded parking infrastructure will be integrated into the complex, features that mirror global standards followed in leading sports hubs across the UAE.
