Islamabad Excise Department extends deadline for vehicle token tax payment

KP launches personalized vehicle registration system

ISLAMABAD: The Excise and Taxation Department has announced a 15-day extension to the last date for payment of vehicle token tax.

It has set the new deadline of January 15 to provide more time to vehicle owners to pay their dues and avoid legal penalties.

The Excise Department has announced that strict action will be taken against token tax defaulters. It warned that non-payment will result in cancellation of vehicle registration and defaulters may face a fine of up to 200 percent of the unpaid amount.

Director Excise Bilal Azam said that counters in excise offices across Islamabad will remain open till 8 pm to facilitate citizens in depositing token tax.

Additionally, the department offered vehicle-related services at Trail 3 parking lot from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. According to an ICT administration spokesperson, excise staff facilitated vehicle owners who were seeking registration, transfer and token tax processing.

The excise spokesperson said that this move not only simplifies vehicle-related paperwork but also introduces ICT doorstep service.
