JI leader Rao Muhammad Zafar passes away after prolonged illness

LAHORE: In tragic news, the former emir of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) South Punjab branch, Rao Muhammad Zafar, has died on Sunday due to a long illness.

Zafar was also the president of the Alkhidmat Foundation Punjab. His funeral prayers were offered today at 8:00 PM, in which several political personalities were present.

Earlier,  ex-JI deputy chief Professor Khurshid Ahmad died in April in Leicester, United Kingdom, at the age of 93.

Professor Ahmad was born in Delhi on March 23, 1932. He had a degree in legal studies and completed master’s degrees in Economics and Islamic Studies from the University of Karachi.

The University of Karachi later conferred an honorary degree in Education upon him for his illustrious service to academia.
