KARACHI: The residents of Karachi are bracing themselves for another spell of water shortage due to a fresh leak in the 84-inch pipeline at the Dhabeji Pumping Station, according to the reports.
This pipeline was recently repaired after being damaged at two places during the construction of the Red Line project on December 3. The earlier damage had left the city without water for eight consecutive days.
Reports indicate that the pipeline has developed a new leak, resulting in water accumulating in a trench. The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) is currently deliberating on whether to suspend the water supply to the city for repairs or to carry out the necessary repairs while maintaining a continuous supply.
The pipeline plays a crucial role in supplying 2.5 billion gallons of water to the city, and any disruption in its operation is likely to have far-reaching consequences for the residents of Karachi.
