Karachi court sentences man to death for mother-in-law’s murder

LHC orders massive transfer of 94 civil judges across Punjab

KARACHI: Additional District and Sessions Judge (West) Karachi has sentenced accused Farid Ahmed to death in the case of killing his mother-in-law by his sons-in-law over a family dispute.

The Karachi court, while pronouncing the verdict in the case, said that the prosecution had successfully proved the charges against the accused. As a result, Farid Ahmed was sentenced to death for the crime.

Furthermore, the court sentenced accused Farid Ahmed to 7 years in prison for injuring his relative Hidayat. The court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for the absconding accused Bashir Ahmed and directed the investigation officer to submit a report on the arrest of the absconding after every 15 days.

According to Prosecutor Ashraf Bhatti, accused Farid and Bashir Ahmed went to their mother-in-law Shabana’s house on September 28, 2018 and opened fire. As a result, Shabana died and a relative Hidayatullah was injured. The accused fled from the spot after the firing.

A case was registered at Pirabad police station on the complaint of the deceased’s brother.
