KARACHI: Electricity outages of over 10 hours have been scheduled for Thursday, July 23, 2020, in dozens of neighborhoods in Karachi city because of maintenance work that is being carried out by K-Electric on its transmission lines.
According to K-Electric, the power supply would remain suspended in those particular localities because of the maintenance shutdowns, which demand the closure of all feeders to make sure that the maintenance work is done safely.
Some of the localities where electricity outages would take place include Abad Builders, Ali Daulat, Al-Mahmal, Al-Murtaza, Ayubia Commercial Phase 7 Extension, Bosay, BRR Modaraba, Capital Housing Society, Crown Garden, Dawood Cotton, DHA Golf Club, Embassy Villa, Glass Tower, Greenland City, Gul Bahar, Nazimabad College, Noor Housing, North Bypass, Old Golimar, Pasban Masjid, PNR Colony, Quetta Town, Salman Garden, Sea View, Shah Faisal Town, SUPARCO, Talha Cottages, Tauheed Colony, and many more areas around them.
K-Electric further added that the timing of electricity suspension and resumption varies from one area to another. Some areas would experience outages from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, whereas other areas would experience outages from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Power is anticipated to resume within the range of 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm, causing an outage exceeding 10 hours.
The power company has informed the citizens to plan for themselves accordingly since some people need continuous electricity for their tasks, medical devices, and even water.
K-Electric has further recommended its users to refer to its official outage schedule in order to be aware of the specific timings in their locality for this maintenance process.
