ISLAMABAD: The planned protest by petrol pump dealers that was expected from tonight has been called off after the federal government agreed to address their key concerns within two weeks, following successful talks with the Pakistan Petroleum Pump Dealers Association.
The development came after a meeting between Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik and representatives of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association in Islamabad, where both sides reached an agreement to resolve outstanding issues through mutual consultation.
Speaking during a joint media briefing, the petroleum minister assured dealers that the government would make efforts to provide them with their due rights, which have remained pending since 2022.
Ali Pervaiz Malik said the government was committed to bridging the gaps with petroleum dealers and creating a favourable environment for smooth business operations.
Following the assurances, the association decided to suspend its protest plan and continue engagement with the government to resolve remaining matters.
Both sides agreed that dialogue would remain the preferred way forward to address issues faced by petrol pump dealers and ensure uninterrupted fuel availability across the country.
