KARACHI: After three long weeks of disruption, the Karachi’s traffic flow is finally coming back to normal as the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) has concluded their sit ins across the port city.
The announcement was made by the MWM Chief Raja Nasir Abbas on Wednesday night following the peace agreement in Kurram jirga. The chief appealed to the protestors to end the protest and return back to their homes peacefully.
As the protest which were held in different key places of Karachi have come to an end, according to the Traffic police, the traffic has been fully restored with the major roads including Numaish Chowrangi and Abdul Hassan Isphani Roads, routes from Kamran Chowrangi to the Meteorological Office (Mosmiyat Chowrangi), Water Pump to Ancholi, and Sohrab Goth to Water Pump now open for commuters.
Karachi administration has confirmed that normal traffic operations have resumed across all major routes affected by the protests.
This development comes after the Muttahida Wasiat-e-Mahdi (MWM) called of its sit-ins against Kurram violence across Pakistan, including in Islamabad and Karachi.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi MWM Chief Allama Raja Nasir Abbas stated that the decision was made after successful negotiations between the Kurram tribes, resulting in the peace deal during Kohat’s Grand Jirga.
