KP govt lifts weekly ‘Meat Free’ days during Ramadan 2025

Islamabad, Rawalpindi butcher rates announced

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has called off its prohibition on the sale of meat on weekdays during Ramazan. It comes following the notification of the Food Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which lifted the restriction of the ban on animal slaughter and sale of meat, stating that sale would continue all week long.

This decision means that there will no longer be any restrictions on meat sales and no bans on the slaughter of animals during the holy month.

Until the recent decision, there was a ban, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, on commercial slaughter and sale of livestock in Pakistan to safeguard animal populations and protect production balance.

But the chicken was still to be found in the shops on the above-mentioned days. People who consume meat in the province are likely to welcome the provincial government’s decision to lift the ban on meat sales during Ramadhan.
