LAHORE: A complete blackout hit Bahria Town Lahore on Friday after the disconnection of electricity by LESCO to four major projects over outstanding dues exceeding Rs. 682 million.
The issue has triggered frustration among the residents as they claimed that no prior intimation was given before this outage.
LESCO Chief Executive Muhammad Ramzan Butt said power was cut to Bahria Town, Bahria Orchard, Bahria Education City, and a project by Kingrete Associates. He confirmed several payment extensions had expired, and electricity would be restored only after clearing the outstanding bills.
According to the breakdown by LESCO, Bahria Town owes over Rs. 530 million, Bahria Orchard Rs. 137 million, Bahria Education City Rs. 5.465 million, whereas the Kingrete project owes Rs. 2.7 million.
Residents reported spoiled food, cold homes, and disrupted routines. Some residents said they plan to gather outside the Bahria Town offices to protest the outage. “It feels like we are living in a jungle, no electricity and no warm water,” said a Bahria Town resident.
This isn’t the first time Bahria Town Lahore has been experiencing electricity cuts. In 2024, LESCO disconnected power over Rs 762 million in unpaid dues.
The developer has also been accused of overbilling and deductions on solar units in its projects in Islamabad. LESCO reiterated that supply will be restored immediately once dues are paid.
