LAHORE: The district administration has announced a local holiday in Lahore, in connection with the 982nd annual Urs celebrations of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA).

A notification in this regard will be issued by the district administration.

Special food stands have been put up at certain locations within the shrine for the general people attending the Urs celebrations.
Food would be distributed around the clock to guests and believers during the three-day event. Milk Sabeel has also been established.

The authorities have put in place tight security measures for the annual Urs. Police officials have been put on surrounding roofs to monitor any suspicious behavior, while cars from the Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit will patrol the area to deal with any unusual incidents.

Earlier, the Islamabad district administration had declared a local public holiday on Wednesday, August 13, to facilitate preparations ahead of Marka-e-Haq and Independence Day celebrations in the federal capital.

According to the notification issued on Tuesday, “a local holiday has been declared on August 13, within the revenue limits of Islamabad Capital Territory, except the offices of essential services in Islamabad, including MCI, CDA, ICT Administration.”

Now, all private and government institutions in Islamabad will remain closed on August 13 and 14; thus, residents of the federal capital will benefit from two consecutive holidays.

As per details, a special celebration ceremony will be held at the Sports Complex in Shakarparian from 5:00 PM on August 13 till 1:30 AM on August 14.
