LPG mafia hikes prices arbitrarily across the country

LPG prices surge in Peshawar as market rates exceed official cap

LAHORE: Amidst the tension in the Middle East and a potential energy crisis, the LPG mafia has arbitrarily increased the price of gas across the country.

OGRA has fixed the price of LPG gas at Rs 304.28, while the mafia across the country, including Lahore, has started charging more than Rs 450 per kg.

LPG is not available anywhere in the country, including Lahore, at the fixed price of OGRA, while the public is forced to buy the most expensive LPG at Rs 146 per kg, and the price per kg has reached Rs 470.

The LPG mafia has earned billions of rupees from the public in a few days by increasing the prices, while no action is seen from any institution, including OGRA, in this situation.

According to the LPG Distributors Association, more than 6,000 metric tons of LPG are sold in Pakistan daily.

Earlier, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) increased the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). OGRA has issued a notification for the increase in the price of LPG.

According to the notification, the price of LPG has been increased by Rs 78.28 per kg.

After this increase, the new price of LPG per kg has been fixed at Rs 304.12, while due to the increase in price, the domestic cylinder of LPG has become expensive by Rs 923.71.

The new price of an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder of LPG has been fixed at Rs 3588.59.

According to the notification, the new prices of LPG will be applicable from April 1.
