Lt. Gen. Asif Ghafoor retires from Pakistan Army

Ghafoor, 57, was currently serving as the President of the National Defence University (NDU), and held key postions during his distinguished carrer.

Ghafoor served as General Officer Commanding Sawat, Corps Commander Balochistan, and Commanders XII Corps.

The celebrated officer was commissioned on September 9, 1988, in the 87 SP Medium Regiment Artillery, and served at coveted positions throughout his career.

He served as Brigade Major, Assistant Military Secretary, GSO-I in Military Operations at GHQ, and Director of Military Operations before becoming DG ISPR from 2016 to 2020.
