ISLAMABAD: Former Corps Commander Gujranwala Lieutenant General (Retd) Muhammad Aamer has been named as Pakistan’s new ambassador to Qatar. Lt. Gen (r) Muhammad Aamer, who completed his service last year, will take over the charge in place of Dr. Ijaz, who has been appointed in Belarus.
Qatar has sent an “agreement” approving the appointment of a former army officer, who served as Military Secretary in the first stint of President Asif Ali Zardari and has also held various important staff, instructional, and command assignments.
Additionally, the Foreign Office has appointed Mohammad Samiur Rehman Khan as an Ambassador to Switzerland. Additional Secretary for United Nations and OIC, Syed Haider Shah will serve as Pakistan’s envoy in the Netherlands.
Suljuk Mustansar Tarar, serving in the Netherlands, has been shifted to Indonesia, where he will succeed Amir Khurram Rathore, who has completed his term. Moreover, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Amir Shaukat, has been posted to Egypt after the retirement of Ambassador Sajid Iqbal.
