Metro, Green line, Blue Line and Electric bus services suspended in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Metro Bus service will remain suspended in Islamabad today due to the rallies and protests staged by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Jamaat-e-Islami.

According to the notification issued by Capital Mass Transit Authority, the Metro Bus service will remain closed in Islamabad from IJP Road till Pak Secretariat as a precautionary measure amid protest calls of the political parties.

Moreover, Green Line, Blue Line, and Electric Bus service will also remain suspended for citizens. The move has been taken to ensure the protection of the masses in case of any eventuality, the statement said.

Orange Line which runs from H-9 to Islamabad International Airport will remain partially operational. Commuters will be able to use the Orange Line bus from Faiz Ahmed Faiz till N5. However, the route from N5 to the Airport stop will remain suspended.

Meanwhile, Islamabad police have also shared a traffic plan for the federal capital for today due to the closure of main roads and junctions. Authorities have also sealed the Red Zone by placing containers ahead of the JI sit-in protest at the D-Chowk in Islamabad and the PTI protest.

Citizens are instructed to use the Rawalpindi Sadar route if Rawat T Chowk is closed. If Peshawar GT Road will close, commuters can use the motorway as an alternate route.

If the Srinagar Highway from G14 is closed, citizens should use Peshawar Road, GT Road, and Colonel Sher Khan (IJP) Road.

If Faizabad is inaccessible from the Islamabad Expressway, traffic coming from Rawalpidni can use Khanna Bridge, Lehtrar Road, Captain Tufail Shaheed Road, and Park Road as an alternative.

Commuters traveling from Rawalpindi can take 9th Avenue in case Faizabad on Murree Road is closed. In case, Zero-Point is closed commuters can use Faisal Avenue and Jinnah Avenue. If Serena Chowk is closed use 7 Avenue and for Embassy Road closure use Shaheed Millat Road, China Chowk underpass, and F-6.
