Lahore: Mohsin Naqvi, the current Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is likely to be appointed as the next Interior Minister of Pakistan in the cabinet of newly-elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to reports, Naqvi, who previously served as the Chief Minister of Punjab during the caretaker setup, is expected to be nominated as a joint candidate for the Senate election by the ruling coalition.
Upon his election as a senator, he is anticipated to assume the role of the country’s next Interior Minister, as per local media sources.
Despite his new assignment in the federal government, Naqvi is expected to continue serving as the Chairman of the PCB.

Last month, Mohsin Naqvi was unanimously elected as the PCB Chairman for a three-year term during a special meeting of the Board of Governors convened at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. His nomination for the post was put forward by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar.
