Mohsin Naqvi to replace Jay Shah as ACC president: Reports

Mohsin Naqvi to succeed Jay Shah

ISLAMABAD: Mohsin Naqvi, the current chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is set to become the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for a two-year term starting in January 2025, said the sources.

According to reports, Naqvi will succeed Jay Shah, who has been granted a one-year extension, with his term ending in January 2025. This decision was made during an ACC meeting in Bali in January 2024.

In related news, India will host the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 in a T20 format, while Bangladesh will host the 2027 edition in an ODI format.

Both tournaments will feature six teams: Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and a sixth team yet to be determined through a qualifying event.

Although the official schedule for the 2025 Asia Cup has not been finalized, it is expected to be held in September 2025, following the end of the monsoon season in India.
