ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new digital facility under which citizens can register births and deaths through the PakID mobile app.
The new facility has been initially launched in the union councils of Jhelum, Chakwal and Nankana Sahib in Punjab. These districts were selected as priority areas as the recent floods disrupted the normal administrative process.
With this service, residents no longer need to visit the union council offices repeatedly to complete their registration. Instead, they can submit applications, upload required documents, and track the status of their cases directly through the mobile app.
According to NADRA officials, the authority is working with local administrations to expand the service across the country. Preparations are already underway in other provinces, and once necessary administrative steps are taken, the mobile app facility will be extended to more areas.
Officials added that this development is part of NADRA’s broader strategy to digitize civic services and reduce paperwork, making access more accessible for communities in remote and disaster-prone areas..
The digital registration of births and deaths offers multiple advantages:
