NHA to launch helicopter rescue service for motorways

ISLAMABAD: The National Highway Authority (NHA) plans to introduce a helicopter rescue service to provide swift medical assistance to victims of motorway accidents.

This new service will complement the existing 1122 emergency helpline, ensuring timely help reaches those in need. To enhance road safety, the minister has directed the NHA to adopt both short-term and long-term strategies.

Additionally, the minister emphasized the need for transparency in government fund usage and called for a comprehensive five-year action plan to upgrade highways and motorways nationwide.

To further improve operations, the National Highway Authority (NHA) has been tasked with implementing two key initiatives. Firstly, the introduction of modern toll collection systems will aim to enhance efficiency and reduce congestion at toll points.

Secondly, the drafting of a National Transport Policy will provide a comprehensive framework for the development and management of the country’s transportation network, ensuring a coordinated and strategic approach to future growth and improvement.

These initiatives aim to enhance the overall safety and efficiency of the country’s transportation network.
