Nine suspects in Khalilur Rehman kidnapping case sent on physical remand

Khalilur Rehman case 7 years

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday sent nine suspects on a 15-day physical remand in the case regarding the kidnapping of screenwriter Khalilur Rehman Qamar.

ATC approved the investigation officer’s request for an extension in the physical remand of the suspects. The suspects allegedly kidnapped Khalilur Rehman Qamar along with Amna Urooj who honey-trapped the ‘Meray Paas Tum ho’ writer.

As per details, the anti-terrorism court ordered the nine suspects to be produced before the court again on September 7.

Police requested further physical remand of the suspects stating that they had already recovered money, weapons, and a car used in the kidnapping. “We need more time to recover additional weapons and Khalilur Rehman’s watch,” the investigation officer stated.

The defense lawyers opposed the request for further physical remand, arguing that the suspects had already been in custody for a significant period. However, the court granted the request, allowing the police to investigate further.

On July 30, Peshawar police apprehended the mastermind behind a honey trap that ensnared Khalilur Rehman Qamar. Hassan Shah, along with his accomplice Rafiq, were arrested in Peshawar.

Shah is accused of leading a 12-member gang, which included several women, to lure Qamar into a trap and subsequently release compromising videos of him. According to police reports, Khalilur Rehman Qamar was invited to a woman’s house under pretenses, where he secretly recorded his explicit videos.
