No-confidence motion succeeds against 4 opposition committee chairmen in Punjab

LAHORE: The ruling party in Punjab, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN), has successfully removed chairmen of 4 opposition standing committees after a No-confidence motion in the Punjab Assembly.

Sources say that Chairman Literacy Ansar Iqbal, Chairperson Special Education Saima Kanwal, Chairman Colonies Ahsan Ali, and Chairman Management and Professional Development Rai Murtaza were removed from office after a no-confidence motion was brought.

According to sources, the chairmen of all four standing committees belong to PTI, and notices have been issued to remove the chairmen of the 4 standing committees from their posts.

Sources say that now the elections for the new chairmen of the standing committees will be held again.

A no-confidence motion has also been submitted against 2 more standing committee chairmen, while there is a possibility of a no-confidence motion being brought against the chairmanship of the remaining 7 opposition standing committees.

Sources also say that references against opposition members will also be sent to the Election Commission before the next assembly session.
