Over 100 housing schemes declared illegal in Capital Peshawar

CM Punjab allots 720 flats to homeless industrial workers

PESHAWAR: The Municipal Department in Peshawar has identified 104 illegal and unregistered housing schemes and announced plans to take strict action against them.

According to official documents, several complaints led to the unearthing of these unauthorized housing projects in various tehsils.

The highest number of violations occurred in Tehsil Shah Alam where authorities found 32 illegal housing schemes. Further investigation revealed that 26 unregistered housing projects were operating in Chamkani while 14 were identified in City Tehsil.

16 illegal schemes were discovered in Mathura tehsil, 12 in Pushtakhara, and four in Budh.

In response to these findings, the Local Government Department has informed all concerned Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) about the illegal schemes. TMA has been directed to take appropriate steps to rectify the violations.

These actions may include stopping construction, issuing fines, or taking legal action against those responsible for developing these unregistered housing societies.

Officials have also urged the public to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of housing schemes before investing, as buying property in unauthorized projects can lead to legal complications and financial loss.
