ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has said on Wednesday that the situation with India remained tense, warning that targeting Indian water bodies could be considered a strategic response if necessary.
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament House in Islamabad, Asif stressed that the conflict had not abated and was “serious and troubling”. He confirmed that Pakistan had responded befittingly to Indian aggression, stressing that India had initiated hostilities.
“The situation is far from over; it is extremely serious,” Asif said. “A response was inevitable after the attack on Neelum Jhelum. In the event of further escalation and strategic consensus, targeting Indian water bodies could become a viable option.”
He added that Pakistan was not facing any international pressure in the ongoing standoff and affirmed that the country reserves the right to defend itself against any aggression.
