Pakistan’s Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, stated that this decision is a reaction to the region’s growing maritime security threats.
The Jinnah Class Frigates are built to counter a variety of contemporary naval challenges, such as air defense, surface warfare, and anti-submarine operations.
Admiral Ashraf underlined that these ships will drastically lessen Pakistan’s reliance on foreign naval platforms and are being created using lessons learned from the building of the MILGEM Class ships.
Along with the introduction of cutting-edge ships like the PNS Babur and PNS Hunain, this is a component of Pakistan’s larger fleet modernization initiative.
In addition, Karachi Shipyard is building two ships of the MILGEM class. The goal of Pakistan’s future naval policy is to ensure a balanced and adaptable naval force that can confront changing maritime threats by improving combat readiness with domestically created technologies.
