ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced that its offices in Islamabad will be closed from October 14 to 16 in the wake of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
According to the official circular, the closure is part of security measures in anticipation of the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting, scheduled to take place in the federal capital on October 15 and 16.
“The PIA employees working in shifts at the airport will continue their duties during this period,” the circular said.
The federal government has declared a public holiday in Islamabad and Rawalpindi district amid the SCO meeting to ensure security during the conference.
Earlier, the Supreme Court of Pakistan also announced a three-day closure from October 14 to 16 in connection with the upcoming SCO summit.
PIA cancels six flights today
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has canceled six flights today on Saturday due to operational issues. It also affected the arrival and departure of 25 domestic and international flights.
The cancelled flights include PIA’s PK 302 and PK 303 from Lahore to Karachi, as well as PK 293 from Multan to Sharjah. Flight PK 182 from Sharjah to Islamabad and two flights from Islamabad to Chitral—PK 660 and PK 661—have also been cancelled.
