PIMS issues statement on Imran Khan’s Eye treatment

Govt was willing to shift Imran Khan, but dispute over family member halts move

ISLAMABAD: PTI founder Imran Khan was brought to PIMS Hospital for eye treatment.

The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) administration issued a statement saying that the PTI founder was brought to the hospital for eye treatment where he was given a second dose of anti-VEGF injection.

According to the statement, a cardiologist and physician conducted a medical examination before the treatment, the report of which was declared normal. In addition, Imran Khan underwent echocardiography and ECG tests, the results of which were normal.

The PIMS administration said that the injection was administered under the supervision of an ophthalmologist and vitreo-retinal surgeon, while the procedure was completed as a day care surgery. Ophthalmologists from PIMS and Shifa Eye Hospital were present at the time of the procedure.

Imran Khan remained medically stable before, during and after the treatment, and was discharged from the hospital with necessary instructions and follow-up advice.
