PM orders rescue of tourist in Astore

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to rescue tourists stranded in floodwaters in Astore, Gilgit-Baltistan.

In a statement from the Prime Minister’s office, it was reported that the prime minister called the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to discuss the flood situation in Astore.

Moreover, he instructed that efforts be made to rescue the tourists, who were isolated due to disrupted land connectivity, as quickly as possible.

The prime minister also ordered the provision of an alternative route in Fina village following the loss of two bridges to the floodwaters.

Additionally, he directed that arrangements be made to rescue the stranded tourists and supply them with relief items until the operation is complete.
