PM Shehbaz affirms no change in solar energy policy

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that there has been no change in the government’s policy and priorities regarding solar energy.

A comprehensive and effective strategy is being prepared to reduce electricity prices, and a relief package will be announced soon.

Chairing an important review meeting on the Power Division, the Prime Minister stressed that promoting renewable energy is the top priority of the government. He directed the officials to address the concerns of the public regarding the solarization policy with factual data.

Shehbaz Sharif directed the authorities to expedite the legal and administrative process to wind up power generation companies. He also ordered the privatization of the Power Distribution Company to be expedited.

The Prime Minister assured that reforms in the power sector would bring further relief in electricity prices. He stressed on better coordination between the Power Division, Water Resources Division and Petroleum Division for a comprehensive energy strategy.
