President, PM express grief over Pakistan Army MI-17 helicopter crash

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, where leaders from both coalition parties were also present.

According to sources, the meeting focused on the upcoming election of the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and both sides agreed to continue consultations before announcing a final candidate.

The two leaders also discussed strengthening the working relationship between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). They reaffirmed their commitment to mutual consultation and political cooperation in the future.

Sources said various names for the AJK presidency were reviewed, but no timeline has yet been set for a final announcement.

It is pertinent to mention that the PPP has already indicated its intention to nominate its own candidate for the AJK presidency. President Zardari briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the ongoing political developments and coalition understanding regarding the matter.
