Police foil major terrorist attack on check post in Dera Ghazi Khan

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Punjab Police have foiled the terrorist attack on a police check post in Dera Ghazi Khan district on Friday night, a police spokesperson said.

At least 15 to 20 khwarij terrorists launched an attack under the cover of darkness on the Jhangi checkpost under the jurisdiction of Vehova Police Station, which was successfully repelled.

Punjab Police spokesperson said the terrorists used rocket launchers, hand grenades, and modern weapons, however, sift retaliation from police personnel thwarted the major attack and compelled militants to escape.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Ghazi Khan, Captain (retd) Sajjad Hassan Khan Manj, led the police operation, accompanied by DPO Dera Ghazi Khan Syed Ali.

The police said that a search operation had been launched to track down the terrorist.

“Additional personnel and modern equipment were provided to make the Jhangi outpost more secure,” the police official said.

In the last two years, Punjab Police has foiled 18 attacks by Khawarij terrorists on its border posts.
