PTA slams Telenor with 20 warnings for poor service

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has taken strict action against mobile phone companies for failing to provide quality service to consumers. The authority-imposed fines and issued warnings to multiple companies for delivering subpar services.

Telenor topped the list with highest number of warning letters, receiving 20 warnings from PTA. Zong notorious for its poor service, came second and wan fined over 68 million rupees. PTA has already recovered 13.6 million rupees from Zong.

Jazz also faced repercussions, with PTA issuing 11 warning letters due to service failures, while Ufone was issued 12 warnings for the same reasons.

In response, mobile companies have filed 11 appeals with PTA. The authority, in turn, has frozen over 32 million rupees in bank guarantees submitted by these companies in relation to the appeals.
