LAHORE: The Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, has initiated a new initiative for the plantation of trees named “ek call milaaen, pauda apne ghar lagwaaen” [Make a call, get a plant for your home], focusing on environmental awareness and green belts in urban areas.
Under the program, 17 varieties of plants will be made available for plantation in houses. Among them are fruit-bearing and shade-providing trees like Pomegranate, Mango, Jamun, Patajan, Pulkan, Raat Ki Rani, Mulberry, Neem, New Palm, Chandna, Vive, Kachnar, Gulchen, Amaltas, Tapiobia, Jurufa, and Har Sanghar.
The program will initially be accessible to residents of Lahore in its first phase. Citizens can call a special helpline number, 1399, which has been introduced to enable participation and inform citizens about the project.
According to officials, the program aims to add to the tree plantation drive and environmental enhancements in urban regions.
