LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday opened the ‘largest project’ in Sargodha – the Nawaz Sharif Flyover. The flyover is 1.3 km long and was completed in eight months, which is a record time, and is expected to relieve traffic and improve connectivity for thousands of commuters.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif took a look at the Nawaz Sharif Flyover on the day of the opening ceremony and praised the quality of construction. Provincial Minister Sohaib Ahmad Bharth briefed CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif on the flyover and explained the benefit of the project for transportation in the surrounding areas.
The project, ‘The Nawaz Sharif Flyover’, which is worth an estimated Rs. 2.2 billion is expected to improve travel for residents of Bhakkar, Khushab, and Mianwali – for an estimated over 30,000 vehicles.
The project will also include service roads and a sewer channel box to facilitate free-flowing traffic and improve urban development planning. The Nawaz Sharif Flyover is expected to increase economic activity and improve access to Sargodha from the nearby districts.
