LAHORE: Due to the war in the Middle East and the economic crisis, a proposal has been made to close markets in Punjab at 6 pm, but the final decision regarding the working hours will be taken by Maryam Nawaz.
According to details, the Punjab government has prepared large-scale saving plans in the province to deal with the current situation in the Middle East and the energy crisis.
Sources said that serious consultations are underway at the government level to limit the working hours of markets, bazaars and shopping malls.
Government sources said that it has been proposed to keep commercial centers open across the province from 9 am to 6 pm. The main objective of this proposal is to bring about a clear reduction in the consumption of petrol, diesel and electricity:
Sources said that continuing business activities during daylight hours will reduce the consumption of electricity and reduce the use of transportation and generators, which is necessary in the current global situation.
During the consultation process, it was also raised that this change in working hours could affect business activities and the economic cycle.
Therefore, it has been suggested that the working hours be fixed in such a way that causes minimal damage to business affairs and the economy.
Sources say that all aspects related to the new schedule of markets and markets are being reviewed, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will take the final decision, after which a formal notification will be issued.
