LAHORE: The government of Punjab has made it necessary for all the guest houses in the province to register themselves on the ‘Hotel Eye’ software, according to state run Radio Pakistan.
The initiative has been made to curb crime and other illegal activities in the province of Punjab.
The home department has launched an online portal, “http://hoteleye.punjab.gov.pk,” to facilitate the registration of all guesthouses and residential service providers.
The final deadline for registration is the 15th of next month.
Guests/tourists who reserve condos using international online booking programs such as Airbnb, Booking.com, and Hotels.com must additionally register with the system upon arrival. Guesthouses that refuse to comply with the directives will risk legal punishment under the Punjab Information of Temporary Residence Act, 2015.
Earlier, the Punjab Education Department recently took a significant initiative to enhance security in schools across the region. They have decided to install security cameras and sophisticated surveillance systems that would monitor activities and help to identify potential security threats in schools.
The use of the system will have facial recognition technology to identify students, teachers, and visitors perfectly, with the additional efficiency of submitting daily reports to the education department, which would facilitate management and administration.
No less than the entrances of the schools themselves would feature surveillance cameras, while high-risk areas in schools, including hallways and playgrounds, would also be monitored.
