Punjab govt & transporters agree to keep public transport fares unchanged

LAHORE: In a significant development, the Punjab government and public transporters on Saturday agreed not to increase public transport fares in the province.

Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary Rana Mohsin said that the Punjab Transport Department has obtained affidavits from all public transport owners.

He said that a majority of public transporters have already submitted their affidavits.

Rana Mohsin said that strict action will be taken against all transporters who increase public transport fares.

He said that various raiding squads had been formed at bus stands in the city to ensure implementation.

The RTA Secretary said that the transporters themselves have decided not to increase the fares in the best public interest.
