LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to launch Phase II of the “Magnificent Punjab Tourism Internship Program”, which aims to expand opportunities for the youth while promoting the province’s tourism sector.
According to official details, 2,000 interns will be inducted under the second phase of the program. The intake will be divided into four batches of 500 interns, ensuring systematic training and gradual deployment in various tourism-related projects.
The government has proposed a financial outlay of Rs360 million for the stipend to be paid to the interns. In addition, Rs80 million has been allocated for the purchase of IT equipment and software to meet digital learning and operational requirements.
Another Rs40 million has been allocated for services and practical training, with the authorities emphasizing on hands-on experience to equip the participants with industry-relevant skills.
Officials said the initiative aims to promote tourism in Punjab and also create employment opportunities for the youth. The program is also expected to enhance professional capacity in areas such as hospitality, cultural promotion, and digital tourism management.
In the first phase of the program, 1,000 interns were successfully inducted, laying the foundation for expansion in the second phase.
